The longer days with more sunshine make it easier to find time for training, but it has still been pretty chilly this week!
I am gradually making changes to my own running training after reading up on Steve Monaghetti’s Trained by Champs program.
The first is to increase the number of times that I run each week. Normally I only run three times a week. This includes the five kilometre parkrun on Saturday morning and two relatively easy runs during the week.
Steve talks about doing easy runs between harder training days to ‘keep your legs turning over’ so I have increased my efforts to five runs, a total of just under 30 kilometres for the week.
He explains that these short ‘fill-in’ runs add up over the 12 weeks of his program to put another hundred plus kilometres into your legs.
I am still aware of the need for adequate rest between runs however, so I have spaced my runs with a morning run one day being followed by an evening run the following day when possible.
With the 2018 Busselton Half Marathon and Fun Run coming up on February 10 th I am happy to have started out on the journey from here to half with such good advice to guide me along the way.
