This has been a week in two parts.
The first part of the week was wonderful. I was training well – getting a run in on most days and building speed and endurance.
On Saturday I completed my fastest parkrun for the year and on Sunday I set out on a long run. My target was to do two hours of continuous run/walk/run as suggested by Jeff Galloway.
I was able to cover 19 km in the two hours and still felt strong at the end, despite the warm weather and humidity.
Monday was a rest day with a short walk and some simple stretches. Tuesday morning I set out to do a leisurely 5-6 km and 3 kilometres from home my hamstring gave way, leaving me to limp home slowly.
Not being able to run in the Busselton Half Marathon after all of my training and preparation is very disappointing to say the least.
Like a number of other injured runners, I have moved down to the 10 km distance and will be happy to just participate in and complete that on the day. I can still look forward to listening to Steve Moneghetti at the dinner on February 9 th, and then I can get my body back into condition for the half marathon next year!
