Frontrunner — Week 7

Week 7 was the last week of the ‘base’ phase, next week is supposed to be the start of the ‘specific’ phase. Cooler temperatures and almost complete recovery from the illness that’s been bothering me for a while combined to make running enjoyable again.

Frontrunner — Week 6

Week 6 and the illness is still influencing my training. The most severe symptoms have abated but high speed running is still impaired.

Week 5 was reduced to a lighter work load while recovering from illness. The first session was skipped entirely, and session three was reduced to 3x3min threshold.

Week 4 saw me suffer from a bit of a cold, enough to prevent me from finishing the training set.

Frontrunner — Week 3

Week 3 of 12 is nearly half way through the build phase and the volumes are starting to increase. The total distance for the week (not including extra curricular running) was just over 40km.

Week 2 of 12 was difficult to schedule due to other commitments and travelling to Perth. In the end I needed to put the last two sets in on one day, which is within the letter of the program but I suspect not ideal.

Frontrunner — Week 1

For the 2017 Busselton Half Marathon, the Busselton Runners Club have partnered with Front Runner Sports to promote the event. We have witnessed over the previous years a pattern in which several of the fastest runners have all been trained by the coaches from Front Runner, but this year one of our club members has volunteered to put their body on the line to find out just how much faster you can run if you’re properly trained.
