It is with pleasure that the Busselton Runners Club Inc announce that the 2018 beneficiary of our annual Half Marathon & Fun Run is The Friends of the Cape to Cape Track Inc., a not-for-profit community group. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this group, they provide an exceptional service to the community by maintaining the Cape to Cape track which runs from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, a distance of 135km.
Their committee meets regularly throughout the year to organise Group Walks, infrastructure upgrades, track realignment and to liaise closely with DPaW. The "Friends" is an active and enthusiastic group and have been pivotal in developing the Track from pre-1998 conditions to what is now a well used iconic long distance track which is widely recognized and enjoyed by thousands of walkers and other track users.
Funds donated from the 2018 event will go towards assisting with the construction of a low bridge over a particularly boggy section of the Track between Moses Rock Rd (North) and the Quinninup Waterfall. Walkers traversing this ecologically sensitive area have the potential to damage flora and Fauna.
Busselton Runners Club are happy to encourage both visitors and locals to explore this wonderful scenic track. More information about the Friends of the Cape to Cape can be found on their website: http://www.capetocapetrack.com.au.
